I learned about this book from a proven Master Herbalist with decades of clinical (pure plant based protocols) experience helping people heal themselves, including me. Do not be misled by the title or publication date. Dr. Mendolsohn's work was relevant then and remains so now (2015). This book is for individuals 18 years old +, with and without kids, with the ability to read, comprehend and think logically.In the book the words "pediatrician" and "child" can very easily be replaced with "doctor/PCP/OB-GYN" and "person" because his straight talk, sage advice, practical experience and keen analyses, is for all to consider. The first few chapters illustrate this point: 1: Most Things Get Better By Morning, 3: How Doctors Can Make Healthy Kids Sick, 4: Protecting Your Children Before They Are Born (should be integrated into high school science, health and phys ed classes and after school programs for teens, with parental consent) and 5: Proper Nutrition For Health And Growth.As an adult, I can relate to many topics discussed in the book. During a physical a few years ago, which was my last "routine exam" because I realized they were unnecessary, a nurse tried to hustle me into purchasing vaccines. SIDEBAR: Insurance IS a form of payment so do not be misled simply because the total bill is not the patient/consumer's upfront financial responsibility. There is a price to pay for blindly volunteering to be part of a test with dangerous consequences (Rx consumption, x-rays/scans, "exploratory" surgery, etc.). I had no idea what the nurse was talking about because I did not know there were "adult" vaccines and I never bought into the flu shot frenzy. So I politely told her that I was vaccinated as a child AND had not one but two battles with the not so childhood disease that is the chickenpox. She was on me like a mad dog until my voice went up a few decibels interrupting her aggressive sales pitch with a firm, across the board, "no" after the pox story. That ended the vaccine hustle immediately. I am way ahead of the vaccine game as I am familiar with the secret vaccine court run by the feds, I believe parents that have proof of injuries (anecdotal is all I need) to their children post-vaccination and my pox experience is more than enough to continue to opt out as an adult. Kudos to Dr. Tenpenny (reading her say no to vaccines book next) and all the parents out there that have posted state laws and opt out info as it pertains to vaccines as a per-requisite for school (vaccines are not mandatory for kids so assert your parental rights). I went to public school...you get what you pay for.....so I am talking to adults that are and have home schooled AND have home schooled kids in college, to learn more from successful parents. The vaccine chapter in the book is insightful."Key To Health: Stay Away From Doctors" (page 23)When I started to read this section I shook my head in agreement and smiled. After dealing with the medical establishment and almost dying "under doctor's care" a few years ago, I can say that is a true statement. Once I began my healing journey (fired all improperly trained doctors in writing) and moved closer to nature by changing everything I was eating, drinking and thinking, I got better quickly. Wise elders that I listened to over the past few years all said the same thing. Stay away from doctors and hospitals unless it is a real emergency (hit by a mack truck, unconscious and hot pepper powder or tincture under the tongue did not work to revive me).The wise doctor also says: "I know it may be difficult for you to accept the fact that......" "This position is shared by many other doctors who have been moved to look objectively at the results they have experienced in their own practices rather than continue to accept hat they learned in medical school." I was shaking my head in agreement once again. Vegan doctors such as retired 100 year old heart surgeon Dr. Ellsworth Wareham is a doctor I listen to and respect for obvious reasons, along with others that chose to acknowledge experience as the teacher and educate patients accordingly. In Pam Grier's memoir, her ivy league doctor told her in secrecy (because it could have ruined his reputation otherwise) that there was nothing more that western medicine could do (prepare to die with cancer if you don't follow through on the right way to heal cancer) and REFERRED her to a Chinese Herbalist! Wow. If I had not read it with my own eyes I would not have believed it. Dentists can't tell the truth (mercury fillings are dangerous), but if you have them removed dentists are wearing hazmat suits to remove mercury fillings because they are indeed dangerous, pollute and damage the human body, hence the hazmat gear and strict removal procedures. Oncologists can't legally recommend a pure plant based detox and herbs to cleanse the body and blood to "fight" cancer, but they spook patients into injecting drugs (chemo) that are known carcinogens and can cause death, but never give patients the written literature that states the dangers, in writing! Nutritionists/dieticians can't say that clean food will reverse disease, but they can say it can prevent certain diseases. I'm not in the medical profession so I'm here to tell you, yes, an apple a day will keep the doctor away. So will 13 (8oz) glasses of fresh pressed organic carrot juice, 3 organic plant based meals, medicinal herbs and yoga, on a DAILY basis, for life. To be even clearer, clean food is chemical free, animal/seafood free, can be eaten in its natural state (as grown) or is gently cooked (rice, beans, peas, gently steamed food) and will, without a doubt, cleanse, nourish, heal, strengthen and protect the body. Clean food can be found at your local farmers market so be sure to start shopping there this week.Freedom must be alive and well elsewhere because it is nowhere to be found in the US when it comes to health and healing. As a teacher, I see too many children and dependents suffering at the hands of ignorant adults that refuse to simply listen, learn, think and act logically. This is my go-to book when I'm wanting to read up on things for my children. I have 3 kids and have been progressively looking for other ways to handle day to day things with them regarding their health. In general, we take a very hands-off approach to ailments. We don't treat fevers unless they're really high (extremely rare) and even then, we try other things first. This book really just re-affirmed a lot of the things we had already known, but liked that there is a doctor backing them up, and it's in writing so we can reference it as often as we need to. We see a local doctor that also recommended this book to us because he takes a holistic approach to medicine as well. I recommend this book to all new (and seasoned) parents! It's also a great gift to give at baby showers :). People are always a little surprised by the title, but once you read it you can see how many fears it can settle, and how much better you can feel about not running to the doctor for every tiny little thing your kid does. It's such a waste of time and money! Do yourself a favor and read this book :).

In the end...I liked it very much. I took to the play style of writing very easily. Great to see the old gang together again. Very emotional ending.So, when do we get to read about Harry Potter: The College Years?

Ian Malcolm: Iâ€™ll tell you the problem with the scientific power that youâ€™re using here: it didnâ€™t require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didnâ€™t earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you donâ€™t take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you even knew what you had you patented it and packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now youâ€™re selling it, you want to sell it.Let's be clear...this was not written by JK...this is based on her series. And that becomes terribly clear very early on. Additionally, the number of names that are dropped is astronomical! Anyone worth knowing in the Potterverse is up front and counted. As in main character. The story, the plotline...it meanders all over the place that the reader wonders if the writers had a clue to start with or if it was just to "stand on the shoulders of geniuses." There was no way this was going to fail...none. The generation that grew up reading Harry's stories are now buying their own books and financing their own plays. Their imagination was set free with JK's works and personally I think that was one of her greatest gifts...engaging our imagination. This reads like fan fiction, poorly written fan fiction and not even with any good ships!Your writers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didnâ€™t stop to think if they should.Don't do it. Keep Harry, Ron, Hermione, McGonagall, Ginny alive in your memories instead.

Let me start by saying this, I love harry potter. I read the books 2-3 times per year since I was a child. I've grown up with these books. These books are a part of me, I've named my children after characters in these books. I have 3 tattoos, all of which are harry potter. I'm a dedicated fan, entirely obsessed to be candid. I have waited for this book like the rest of you.I can handle the fact that it's written as a play, I was expecting this. I was fully prepared to accept this. I waited all night for this to be released to my kindle (it's 3 a.m and I've just finished). I sped through the cursed child and my final thought was, this was disappointing .I'm skeptical of how much jk rowling actually contributed to this. I get more of a harry potter vibe from the fantastic beasts trailer than this entire book. The plot was bad, almost everything was bad. It was like a poorly written fanfic.It sucks that I'm saying this because harry potter is a part of soul. I went into this thinking it was everything I'd ever hoped for.I'm not saying don't buy the book, by all means buy it. Read it. See for yourself. I'm not being cynical, rowling is the queen of my world. This is the first and likely only bad review I will give regarding her.Just be warned, this does not feel like harry potter. This was not intricate, well excuted, thought out, or clever. The characters were not true to themselves. I think the best way to go into reading this and saving yourself from despair is to read it as a fanfic and not the true works of rowling. It would be tolerable had her name not been involved, I expected so much more.And now I will try to purge this book from my memory and continue to live in her past works of art. I still have big hopes for fantastic beasts and that's enough for now.

Spoilers!!Huge Harry Potter fan-- 16 years of reading!! So I was incredibly excited for the new one. I keep wondering if there's a therapy group where all the disgruntled fans can congragate and weep together. I'm also refusing to consider in cannon as it was not JKR herself who penned. What they did to the INTEGRITY of these characters. I'm sick over it. The entire 7 book series was about friendship, love and loyalty, and Harry knew that; and most importantly, knew that's what made him different from V. You're telling me, he, Ron and Herm didn't continue to live and instil those values in their children? Rose was a bully, who was prejudice against someone without knowing them first. Harry would never said he wished his kid wasn't his, or sacrificed his kid's only friendship over gosip. Harry wouldn't have choosen work over time with his family, which after all he'd been through WAS ALL HE EVER WANTED.If someone were to ask me, what is your favorite thing about Harry Potter?, I would hands down reply: Harry Potter's moral integrity, that is the heart of the series. It's his choosing to sacrifice himself for what is good. It's choosing friendship over suspicion. It's a defiant effort to turn towards the pain of loving and losing, then choosing not to love at all. It's choosing to do what right, and best for others even when it hurts, is inconvenient, or scary. It's fighting for truth and justice, even when you're the only one doing it. And when you move away from those central themes, the integrity of who we know Harry (and friends) to have PROVEN himself to be, you destroy Harry Potter and all that he stood for for 7 books. This new book is the worst kind of trash, the one that destroys the soul of our hero.Also, what they did to calm, measured, quirky, wise Dumbledore, making him a weepy, rude mess, who spoke in cliches, issuing a completely unnecessary "apology" to why Harry was at the Dursleys, when Dumbledore had already apologized profusely for that in HP5 AND severely told off the Dursleys in HP6 for their abusive behavior! It was just phony emotional porn! And Ron's a proper idiot who got drunk during his wedding?! He would have never disrespected Hermione like that. Hermione was neither clever, nor charming; she didn't come up with hardly any solutions. And what a weak, floppy mess Harry was during the fight scene?! His 16 year old self could have fought better. It's like they sucked the soul out of the books, like a dementor wrote it!! This is not even pointing out the horrible plot holes! No, I refuse this book is real. It's a bloody mess!

He is an experienced arbitrator, author, and speaker. He also lectures to undergraduate and post graduate students on construction law related topics. Anthony F. Caletka, PE, CFCC, CCM is a civil engineer with over 25 years' experience in construction project and programme management, particularly on large civil engineering projects within the energy, mining, power, and utility sectors, and is a principal in a multinational professional services firm.
